Stemming from the “political short poem, feminist as well as poetic” “La Libellula: panegirico della libertà” (1958) by Amelia Rosselli (1930-1996), the show “Trovate Ortensia” presents the works by Johanna Bruckner, Pauline Julier, Nastasia Meyrat, Real Madrid, Urs August Steiner and Anaïs Wenger, former residents of Roma Calling 2019-2020, transdisciplinary residency programme by Istituto Svizzero of Rome. 

Echoing the ghostly traces that live within the poem and the ambiguous and spectral figure of Ortensia, the group show bears its tension toward the outside and its intimate withdrawing together with its claim for an expressive freedom that goes over any linguistic norm, as to address issues related with care, sexuality and death.

Prendendo spunto da “La Libellula: panegirico della libertà” (1958), “poemetto politico, femminista oltre che poetico” di Amelia Rosselli (1930-1996), la mostra “Trovate Ortensia” presenta i lavori di Johanna Bruckner, Pauline Julier, Nastasia Meyrat, Real Madrid, Urs August Steiner e Anaïs Wenger, partecipanti all’edizione 2019-2020 di Roma Calling, il programma di residenza transdisciplinare dell’Istituto Svizzero di Roma. 

Facendo eco alle tracce fantasmatiche che vivono all’interno de “La Libellula” e alla figura spettrale e ambigua di Ortensia, la mostra riporta la tensione verso l’esterno e il ritirarsi intimo e riparato presenti nel componimento poetico, insieme alla rivendicazione di una libertà espressiva capace di soverchiare le convenzioni linguistiche, fino a toccare tematiche relative alla cura, alla sessualità e alla morte.
